In a Color Rush

Bright pink, radiant yellow, hypnotic green: color crush is the name of this fall's fashion trend. It guarantees a good mood for women and men.

When designing the current collections, the designers had a color crush, they were completely infatuated with bright hues. Their intoxicatingly colorful collections deliver exactly what we need now: color therapy. After all, the dark and cold season is just around the corner. That's when bright, colorful tones lift our spirits. Our brain releases the happiness hormone dopamine and we feel more alive and cheerful.

The Happyness color palette ranges from Samoan Sun to Mykonos Blue, Strawberry Cream and Dragon Fire. The names alone will chase away any winter blues. They come from the world-renowned Pantone color institute and define a specific hue. Samoan Sun, for example, is an exotic yellow named after the Polynesian island of Samoa, where the sun shines 2500 hours a year. Goodbye winter dreariness!

So your fall wardrobe should be colorful, but not gaudy. How to wear the color chruhs trend without reminding of Pippi Longstocking? The most fashionable implementation of the trend is the simplest in terms of color, but requires a bit of courage: the complete look, also called the "monochrome look".  Here, you wear the same color from head to toe.

A little less eccentric is the so-called color blocking. This trend requires a bit of fashion sense, because it's all about skillfully combining colors. Color blocking only works, however, if you wear the colors over a large area and clearly separate them from each other, "divide them into blocks". The easiest way to do this is to draw a dividing line between the upper and lower body and combine a blue sweater with orange pants, for example.

It is best to mix plain-colored clothes and do without patterns. The simpler and more straightforward the individual garments are, the better the colors come into their own. More than three different shades should not be combined with each other.

If that sounds too strenuous, buy a garment in the color blocking look. Since the color mix is limited to one garment, patterns are mandatory. For example, a sweater with a colorful checkerboard pattern or a coat in patchwork look. Wear plain jeans with it - and enjoy the good mood.

Other Fashion Trends this Fall

Bomber jacket
The pilot jacket is making a comeback. With its typical arm and hip bands, a low stand-up collar and the shiny nylon it's made of, it's one of the classics. Nowadays, however, the bomber jacket no longer warms fighter pilots, but gives its fashion-conscious wearers a large portion of coolness.

Relaxed cuts
The strict and figure-hugging cuts of recent years are being replaced by soft, flowing ones. A casual blazer and loose-fitting pants flatter the silhouette and can be worn to work or out. If the relaxed look is too masculine, emphasize the waist with a belt, which can also be worn over the blazer. Or wear feminine jewelry.

Leather and vegan leather
A touch of rock'n'roll is in the autumn air. Almost all designers have shown leather outfits in their collections. Preferably, they have wrapped their models from head to toe in leather or faux leather. The trend becomes suitable for everyday wear if you choose a leather key piece and combine it with a natural material like wool. Besides the classic colors like black and brown, colorful leather is also in this season.

Statement knitwear
Cozy sweaters, fluffy cardigans and patterned ponchos are the fashionable answer to the cool season. Wrapped up warm, we give the dropping temperatures the cold shoulder. This season, knitwear can be striking: Whether large mesh, oversized cut or with exciting color combinations.
